vinylHighly impressive post-war jazz delivered by drummer Max Roach, saxophonist Harold Land, pianist Richie Powell, bassist George Morrow, and of course trumpeter Clifford Brown.. One of the three most important (not to mention brilliant) trumpet players in the history of jazz, Clifford Brown adds to his lustre on this varied program of nine engaging tunes + two bonus tracks. (Powell (24) and Brown (25) were both killed in a car crash in 1956 when on tour.) All of Brown's stuff is essential but this album is the most consistently breathtaking and is book-ended by two of the quintet's greatest standards interpretations 'Cherokee' and 'Take The A Train'. TRACKLIST: Side A 1. Cherokee 2. Jacqui 3. Swingin' 4. Lands End 5. George's Dilemma Side B 1. Sandu 2. Gerkin For Perkin 3. If I Love Again 4. Take The 'A' Train Bonus Tracks 5. Gerkin For Perkin 6. It Might As Well Be Spring.
